Recent data in Q3 2022 looked at the ten most popular searches on Google. It shows that the most searched word in 2022 is “Google” itself, with an index of 100.

To determine the top Google searches, the data uses the “index vs query” unit, which measures a query’s search volume against that of the top query. In other words, a search query with an index of 80 received 80 percent of the total search volume of the top query, which, in this case, is “Google.”

After “Google,” the second-most searched word on Google is “YouTube,” which has an index of 74. Incidentally, YouTube is one of Google’s subsidiaries. With an index of 71 in third place, the keyword “weather” ranks next.

This is followed by “Facebook,” the king of social media, which has an index of 60. The high search volume for Facebook should come as no surprise, considering the social media platform’s massive user base of nearly three billion and that it ranks among the three most visited websites worldwide. “Facebook” is also the second-highest-ranked social media-related search query, after YouTube.

The fifth- and sixth-most-popular searches on Google, “translate” and “WhatsApp,” have indexes of 47 and 45, respectively. The next query on the list is “news” with an index of 40. Rounding out the top ten Google searches of 2022 are “Amazon,” “Instagram,” and “WhatsApp Web,” with search indexes of 37, 36, and 29, respectively. 

Of the ten most popular searches on Google in 2022, half are related to social media and communication. The other five are general and ecommerce-related searches.
